Ajmal Kasab ko Fanshi, 2008 Mumbai attacker, hanged

India hanged Mohammad Ajmal Kasab, the only militant to have survived the 2008 attacks on the financial capital Mumbai, the Home Ministry said on Wednesday.

In August, the Supreme Court upheld Kasab’s death sentence over the attack on a string of targets in Mumbai that killed 166 people. Kasab was a Pakistani national.

“Ajmal Kasab was executed at 7.30 this morning,” Home ministry spokesman K. S. Dhatwalia said.

मुबंई हमले के अहम आरोपी अजमल कसाब को आखिर फांसी के सजा दे ही दी गई. आज सुबह 7.30 बजे मुबंई की ऑर्थर रोड़ जेल में उसे फांसी दी गई.,

केंद्रीय गृह मंत्री सुशील कुमार शिंदे ने बताया कि गृह मंत्रालय ने 23 अक्टूबर को ही राष्ट्रपति से सिफारिश की थी कि कसाब की दया याचिका को खारिज कर दिया जाए। इसके बाद 5 नवंबर को राष्ट्रपति प्रणव मुखर्जी ने कसाब की दया याचिका को खारिज कर दिया। शिंदे ने बताया कि 8 नवंबर को ही यह तय हो गया था कि कसाब को 12 तारीख को फांसी दे दी जाए। इस बारे में महाराष्ट्र सरकार को उसी दिन जानकारी दे दी गई थी।
